Baked Apple French Toast

The apples

apples (cored, peeled, and sliced into wedges)

butter (Earth Balance recommended)

brown sugar (divided)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13 baking pan.
- Add enough bread cubes to cover the bottom of the pan generously.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and 2/3 of the cinnamon.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread and press down to soak.
- In a skillet, sauté the apples with butter and the remaining cinnamon until tender.
- Add brown sugar to the apples and cook until slightly caramelized.
- Check the bread to ensure all pieces are soaked, flipping any dry cubes.
- Sprinkle the remaining brown sugar on top of the bread.
- Spoon 3/4 of the apples over the bread and push them down into the cracks.
- Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour until golden brown and set.
- Serve immediately, topped with remaining apples and maple syrup.
