Ingredients

The French Toast

  • 1 loaf French Bread
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla extract

The Streusel Topping

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup cold butter

For Serving

  • to taste Maple syrup

Instructions

  1. 1. Spray a 9 x 13-inch baking pan with cooking spray and place torn or cubed French bread in the pan.
  2. 2. In a bowl, mix eggs, milk, cream, sugar, and vanilla, then pour over the bread and refrigerate for several hours or overnight.
  3. 3. In another bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles sand.
  4. 4. Preheat the oven to 350°F, remove the casserole from the refrigerator, and sprinkle the crumb mixture on top.
  5. 5. Bake for 45-55 minutes until set and golden brown, then serve warm with maple syrup.
