Ingredients

Cake

  • ¾ cup sour cream

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Cream Cheese Layer

  • 12 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup cake batter, reserved from above
  • cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Streusel

  • ½ cup chopped pecans
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup lightly packed light brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 6 tablespoons salted butter, melted
  • ¼ to ½ cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a 9x13-inch metal pan with parchment paper and cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs, bananas, sour cream, milk, and vanilla, mixing until well combined.
  4. Incorporate the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt until just combined, reserving ½ cup for the cream cheese layer.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix the cream cheese with the reserved cake batter, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  6. Prepare the streusel by combining the pecans, flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon, then mix in melted butter until clumps form.
  7. Spread half of the cake batter in the prepared pan, dollop the cream cheese mixture on top, and spread evenly.
  8. Top with the remaining cake batter and optionally swirl the layers together.
  9. Sprinkle the streusel and chocolate chips over the top.
  10. Bake for 45-55 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  11. Let the cake cool completely before serving.
