Ingredients

The scone mixture

  • 2 cups white whole-wheat flour
  • tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup raw sugar
  • 1 cup 2% milk
  • ¾ cup chocolate chips

For brushing

  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tbsp raw sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and ¼ cup of sugar.
  3. Stir in the milk until the dough starts to come together.
  4. Add the chocolate chips and mix until incorporated.
  5. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead briefly.
  6. Pat the dough into an 8-inch circle.
  7. Brush the top with melted butter and sprinkle with remaining sugar.
  8. Cut the dough into 8 wedges and place them on a lined baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 18-20 minutes until golden brown.
