BBQ Shrimp (New Orleans Style)

Ingredients

The Sauce

  • ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
  • cup white wine or beer, or chicken broth
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 units bay leaves
  • 1 tablespoon Creole seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1-2 dashes hot sauce to taste

The Shrimp

  • 1 ½ pounds shrimp, deveined, unpeeled
  • 1 unit lemon, sliced into thin rounds
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • ¾ cup butter, sliced, at room temperature

To Serve (All Optional)

  • to taste chopped scallions
  • to taste chopped fresh parsley
  • to taste crusty bread
  • to taste zucchini noodles
  • to taste cooked pasta
  • to taste rice

Instructions

  1. Combine Worcestershire sauce, white wine, garlic, bay leaves, Creole seasoning, smoked paprika, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and hot sauce in a large skillet and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  2. Once boiling, reduce heat to medium and add shrimp and lemon rounds to the skillet.
  3. Cover and cook for 3 to 5 minutes until shrimp are opaque and slightly curled.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice and room-temperature butter until fully combined.
  5. Remove bay leaves, portion shrimp with desired sides, and serve with sauce, garnished with scallions and parsley if desired.
