Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 stick salted butter, grated
  • cup pecan halves, coarsely ground
  • 1⅓ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Filling

  • sticks salted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate, melted
  • teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs (pasteurized if possible)
  • to taste sweetened whipped cream
  • to taste shaved chocolate curls

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F and prepare a 9-inch pie plate.
  2. Mix the crust ingredients in a bowl until coarse crumbs form, then press into the pie plate.
  3. Bake the crust for 20-25 minutes until golden brown, then let it cool.
  4. In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, then add melted chocolate and mix.
  5. Add one egg and beat for 5 minutes, then repeat for the second and third eggs, beating for 5 minutes each time.
  6. Scrape the filling into the cooled pie crust and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
  7. Before serving, top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
