Ingredients

The cake

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups white whole wheat flour

  • 1 zest orange (optional)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 large very ripe bananas (mashed)
  • 1 cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons nonfat plain Greek yogurt

The frosting

  • 4 ounces reduced-fat cream cheese
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla bean paste or extract
  • 1 pinch kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a bundt pan.
  2. Whisk together the all-purpose flour, white whole wheat flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream the butter and sugar until fluffy, then mix in the vanilla and orange zest.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, then mix in the mashed bananas.
  5. Gradually add half of the dry ingredients, followed by the yogurt, and then the remaining dry ingredients.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 60 to 70 minutes, checking for doneness with a knife.
  8. Let the cake cool for 10 minutes before unmolding onto a wire rack.
  9. For the frosting, beat together the cream cheese and butter, then gradually add the powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
  10. Spread the frosting over the cooled cake and slice to serve.
