Vegan Chickpea Chocolate Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 can (398 ml) chickpeas, strained and drained
  • 2 tbsp carob powder
  • 2 tbsp cacao powder
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup or agave
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp ice cold water
  • 2 tbsp peanut butter

Instructions

  1. Remove the skins from the chickpeas, if desired, for a smoother texture.
  2. Transfer the chickpeas to a food processor and add all ingredients except for the water and peanut butter.
  3. Process until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
  4. Add the peanut butter and gradually incorporate the ice cold water while blending.
  5. Blend for an additional 20-30 seconds until well combined.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and chill in the fridge before serving.
