- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, spicy sausage, egg, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, parmesan, basil, parsley, salt, pepper, crushed red pepper, and panko bread crumbs until just mixed.
- Take ¼ cup of the meat mixture and roll it into a ball, pressing a thumbprint in the center to make room for the cheese.
- Place a piece of cheese in the center of the ball and enclose it with the meat, ensuring the cheese is fully covered.
- Place the meatballs on a greased baking sheet and bake for 30 to 35 minutes until cooked through.
- During the last 10 minutes, add the sub rolls to the oven to toast.
- To assemble, spoon some pasta sauce into each toasted baguette, fill with meatballs, and top with more sauce.
- Add slices of provolone cheese and broil for 2 to 3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
- Serve immediately topped with more marinara, fresh basil, cracked black pepper, and grated parmesan.
