Instructions
- Combine water, milk, and salt in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Whisk in grits, reduce heat, and simmer until thickened, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in cheese and butter once grits are cooked.
- Prepare the shrimp by peeling and patting dry, then dredge in flour.
- Cook bacon in a skillet until crispy, then crumble and set aside.
- Sauté green onions in the bacon grease for 1-2 minutes.
- Add shrimp, garlic, salt, and pepper to the skillet, cooking until shrimp are pink.
- Add chicken broth, lemon juice, hot sauce, and bacon to the skillet, stirring until sauce thickens.
- Serve grits topped with shrimp and sauce, garnished with extra green onions.
