Easy Jerk Shrimp

Ingredients

Jerk Seasoning and Rub

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ tablespoon brown sugar or sweetener
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried or ground thyme
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste salt and pepper

Jerk Marinade

  • 1 habanero
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • ¼ cup pineapple juice
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke

Shrimp

  • 1 pound raw shrimp
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Blend all jerk spices, habanero, soy sauce, pineapple juice, lime juice, liquid smoke, and ginger until well combined.
  2. Drizzle the marinade over the shrimp and optionally marinate in the fridge for 30 minutes to overnight.
  3. For pan-seared shrimp, heat a skillet with olive oil, add shrimp, and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until opaque.
  4. For air-fried shrimp, place shrimp in the air fryer basket, cook at 370°F for 4 minutes, flip, and cook for an additional 4-6 minutes until opaque.
