Ingredients

The filling

  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • ½ cup onion, finely diced
  • 1 pound ground beef (90% lean)
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce

The sliders

  • 1 pound small dinner or slider rolls
  • 8 ounces sliced cheddar cheese

The topping

  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
  • to taste toppings (such as guacamole and salsa)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat and cook the onion until translucent.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces.
  3. Stir in taco seasoning and tomato sauce, then simmer the mixture.
  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the rolls in half and toast the bottom halves in the oven for 5 minutes.
  5. Layer the taco meat over the toasted rolls, then add sliced cheese on top.
  6. Place the top buns over the cheese and mix melted butter with garlic powder, brushing it over the tops.
  7. Bake for 10 minutes until the rolls are browned and the cheese is melted.
  8. Sprinkle with cilantro and serve with desired toppings.
