Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a cake pan by greasing and dusting it with flour.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, butter, and water, cooking over low heat until it boils. Remove from heat and mix in chocolate chips until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and salt. Combine this with the chocolate mixture and stir well. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 20 minutes.
- While the cake bakes, prepare the caramel topping by microwaving unwrapped caramels, butter, and milk until smooth, stirring frequently.
- Once the cake is done, cool it for a few minutes, then spread the caramel topping over it. Sprinkle pecan pieces and chocolate chips on top and let it set for 1 hour.
