Ingredients

The cake

  • cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 tablespoons oil
  • 1 cup water

The topping

  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • ½ cup chocolate frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease an 8-inch cake pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients and mix well.
  3. Add the wet ingredients and whisk until a thick batter forms.
  4. Pour the batter into the greased pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan.
  6. Once cooled, frost the cake with caramel sauce and optionally sprinkle with salt.
