Ingredients

The Brussels Sprouts

  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts

The seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup shaved Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • to taste sea salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • to taste red pepper flakes
  • as needed extra-virgin olive oil
  • as needed fresh parsley leaves

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Trim and slice the Brussels sprouts in half.
  3. Toss the Brussels sprouts with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  4. Spread the Brussels sprouts on the baking sheet with cut sides down.
  5. Roast for 20 to 30 minutes until tender and golden brown.
  6. If desired, toss the roasted sprouts with lemon juice, zest, Parmesan, and thyme.
  7. Garnish with parsley and red pepper flakes before serving.
