Ingredients

The oats

  • 2 tbs cocoa powder

The liquid

  • cups coconut milk or other milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

The sweeteners

  • 2 tbs finely diced dates or date paste
  • 1 tbs maple syrup or to taste

Optional toppings

  • to taste chocolate chips
  • to taste cherries

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix the rolled oats and cocoa powder.
  2. In a measuring cup, combine the coconut milk, vanilla extract, dates, and maple syrup.
  3. Pour the liquid mixture over the oats and stir to combine evenly.
  4. Taste the mixture and adjust the sweetness with more maple syrup if needed.
  5. Transfer the mixture to an airtight container and refrigerate overnight.
  6. Serve the oats warm, cold, or at room temperature, garnished with chocolate chips and cherries if desired.
