Homemade Beef and Broccoli

Ingredients

The beef and broccoli

  • 1 lb flank steak
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 3 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 6 cups chopped broccoli

The sauce

  • ½ cup beef broth
  • ½ cup water
  • cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fresh grated ginger
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon chili garlic sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

Garnish

  • 3 teaspoons white sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions

Instructions

  1. Tenderize the flank steak and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  2. Sauté the broccoli in sesame oil with salt until cooked to your liking.
  3. Mix all sauce ingredients in a bowl until the cornstarch dissolves.
  4. Sear the flank steak in the same pan until browned, then add the sauce.
  5. Cook the meat in the sauce until thickened, then add the broccoli back.
  6. Serve topped with sesame seeds and green onions.
