Instructions
- Combine soy sauce, sugar, water, mirin, ginger, garlic, and red pepper flakes in a small saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to medium and simmer.
- In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of the teriyaki sauce with cornstarch to create a slurry.
- Return the slurry to the saucepan and continue simmering until the sauce thickens, about 5 to 8 minutes.
- Remove from heat and cool to room temperature, or refrigerate for up to one week.
