Teriyaki Salmon

Ingredients

The salmon

  • 4 pieces skinless salmon fillets
  • 1 optional green onion, chopped
  • ½ tsp sesame seeds, for serving

The teriyaki sauce

  • 6-8 Tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 8 Tbsp water, divided
  • 3 Tbsp honey
  • 2 Tbsp packed light brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 Tbsp minced peeled fresh ginger
  • Tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and spray a baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In a saucepan, whisk together soy sauce, 6 Tbsp of water, honey, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and lemon juice, then bring to a light boil.
  3. Mix cornstarch with the remaining 2 Tbsp of water and add to the saucepan, letting it boil for 1 minute while whisking constantly.
  4. Remove the sauce from heat and let it cool slightly.
  5. Place salmon in the baking dish and pour the teriyaki sauce evenly over the salmon.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes until the salmon is cooked through.
  7. Serve warm topped with teriyaki sauce and optional garnishes of green onions and sesame seeds.
