Ingredients

The brownies

  • ½ cup salted butter
  • 8 ounces coarsely chopped quality semi-sweet chocolate
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

The peanut butter filling

  • ¾ cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter chips

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter and chopped chocolate together, then let cool slightly.
  2. Prepare the peanut butter filling by mixing peanut butter, confectioners’ sugar, vanilla, and milk until thick.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and prepare a baking pan with foil.
  4. Combine the sugars with the cooled chocolate mixture, then add eggs and vanilla.
  5. Fold in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  6. Spread half the brownie batter in the pan, layer with peanut butter filling, and top with remaining batter.
  7. Sprinkle chocolate and peanut butter chips on top, pressing them in slightly.
  8. Bake for 35-36 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  9. Cool completely before lifting out and cutting into squares.
