Ingredients

Brownie Layer

  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup whole-wheat flour
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 stick butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ½ cup chocolate chips

Peanut Butter Layer

  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line an 8x8 or 9x9 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. For the brownie layer, whisk together sugar, flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder in a large bowl.
  3. Make a well in the center and add melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract, then mix thoroughly.
  4. Fold in chocolate chips and spread the mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  5. For the peanut butter layer, mix peanut butter, brown sugar, melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, salt, and baking soda in another bowl until combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips and carefully spread on top of the brownie layer.
  7. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown on top, then let cool.
  8. Lift out of the pan using the parchment paper, cut into squares, and enjoy.
