Ingredients

The pasta

  • 8 ounces uncooked ziti, penne, or rigatoni

The sauce

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound Italian sausage, mild or hot, casings removed
  • 6 cloves garlic, pressed or minced
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes
  • 2 14-ounce cans crushed tomatoes
  • cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup shredded Parmesan
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • cups shredded mozzarella
  • to taste none salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 475°F.
  2. Cook the pasta in lightly salted boiling water until just al dente, then drain.
  3. In a large oven-safe skillet, heat olive oil and brown the sausage, breaking it into crumbles.
  4. Add garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking for 30 seconds.
  5. Stir in crushed tomatoes, salt, and pepper, then simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. Mix in the cooked pasta, heavy cream, Parmesan, and basil, adjusting seasoning as needed.
  7. Top with mozzarella and bake for 10 to 15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Serve and enjoy.
