Fresh Honeydew Margaritas

Ingredients

The margarita

  • 2 ounces fresh honeydew juice
  • 1 ½ ounces tequila, preferably 100% agave silver or blanco
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • ½ teaspoon agave nectar or simple syrup (optional)

For preparation

  • 1 honeydew melon honeydew melon
  • 3 parts kosher salt
  • 1 part ancho chili powder or regular chili powder
  • as needed pieces lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Slice the honeydew melon in half and scoop out the seeds.
  2. Scoop pieces of melon into a blender and blend until smooth, being careful not to overfill.
  3. Mix kosher salt and chili powder on a small plate.
  4. Run a lime wedge around the rim of each glass and dip into the salt mixture.
  5. Add ice cubes to the prepared glasses.
  6. In a cocktail shaker, combine ice, honeydew juice, tequila, and lime juice.
  7. Shake for 30 seconds, taste, and add sweetener if desired.
  8. Strain the mixture into the prepared glasses and serve.
