Instructions
- Combine flour, yeast, brown sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl.
- Add warm water and mix to combine, then knead the dough for 10 minutes with a mixer or 15 minutes by hand.
- Transfer the kneaded dough to a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise for 60-90 minutes.
- Once risen, line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Cut the dough into 8 equal pieces and shape into balls, resting for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F and bring the water bath ingredients to a boil.
- Poke a hole in the center of each dough ball and twirl to widen the hole.
- Boil 4 bagels at a time for 2 minutes on one side and 1 minute on the other, then transfer to the baking sheet.
- Optionally sprinkle with toppings and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
