Ingredients

The dough

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon corn oil

The filling

  • 3 stalks scallion, finely chopped
  • teaspoon salt
  • 1 pinch baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon corn oil

Instructions

  1. Combine milk and yeast in a cup and stir well.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and baking powder.
  3. Add the milk mixture to the dry ingredients and mix well, then add corn oil.
  4. Knead the dough until smooth, then let it rest for 5 minutes.
  5. Prepare the filling by mixing chopped scallions, salt, and baking soda.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread the filling evenly over it.
  7. Fold or roll the dough to seal the filling and cut into 10 equal pieces.
  8. Shape each piece into a bun and place on parchment paper in a steamer.
  9. Let the buns rise for 50 to 60 minutes until puffy.
  10. Steam the buns for 10 minutes and let them sit for 3 minutes before serving.
