Japanese Fried Shrimp

Ingredients

The shrimp

  • 10 pieces Shrimps

The batter

  • 1 piece egg
  • 3 tablespoons plain flour
  • 1 tablespoon Japanese mayonnaise
  • 50 ml water

For frying and serving

  • 500 ml Oil for deep fry
  • 1 serving Green salad leaves
  • 1 serving cherry tomatoes
  • 1 serving wedges of lemon
  • 1 serving Tartar sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the shrimp by removing the shell and deveining it.
  2. Score the shrimp's belly 2-3 times and snap the muscle to prevent curling.
  3. Mix the egg, flour, water, and mayonnaise to make a batter.
  4. Coat the shrimp with the batter, then roll in panko crumbs.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan to around 180 °C (356 °F).
  6. Fry the shrimp until crispy and golden brown on both sides, then drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve the fried shrimp with salad and Tartar sauce.
