Ingredients

The cake

  • 1 1/3 cups granulated sugar

The frosting

  • cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 2 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • seeds of 1 vanilla bean

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and butter a 13 by 9-inch baking dish.
  2. 2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the sugar and butter, then mix in the sour cream and eggs, scraping down the bowl as needed.
  3. 3. Stir in the mashed bananas and vanilla extract, then add the flour, baking soda, and salt, mixing well.
  4. 4. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 33 to 38 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. 5. Allow the cake to cool completely on a wire rack before frosting.
  6. 6. For the frosting, mix together the butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla bean seeds, then gradually add in the heavy cream until smooth and fluffy.
