Coffee Preparation

  • 30 grams freshly roasted coffee beans
  • 700 grams cool, filtered water

Equipment

  • 1 unit Chemex
  • 1 unit swan-neck kettle
  • 1 unit gram scale
  • 1 unit digital thermometer
  • 1 unit timer
  • 1 unit scissors
  • 1 unit Chemex filter

Instructions

  1. Fill the kettle with approximately 700 grams of water.
  2. Prep the Chemex filter by rounding off the top to match the Chemex profile.
  3. Rinse the filter with boiling water to remove any papery taste.
  4. Measure and grind 30 grams of coffee beans to a fine consistency.
  5. Add the ground coffee to the filter and level the surface.
  6. Prebrew by adding about 60 grams of water to saturate the grounds and let sit for 45 seconds.
  7. Slowly add water in concentric circles until the scale reads 400 grams.
  8. Remove and discard the filter once the water has drained.
  9. Pour the brewed coffee and enjoy.
