Ingredients

  • 40 grams coffee beans
  • 600 mL filtered water
  • 50 mL water for wetting the filter

Instructions

  1. Measure 40 grams of coffee beans using a food scale.
  2. Grind the coffee beans to a medium-coarse texture.
  3. Heat 600 mL of filtered water to 200ºF.
  4. Place a filter in the Chemex and wet it with 50 mL of water, then discard the water.
  5. Add the ground coffee to the filter, ensuring an even layer.
  6. Pour 75 mL of hot water over the coffee grounds in a spiral motion and let it bloom for 1 minute.
  7. Slowly pour the remaining water in a spiral motion over the coffee grounds until all 600 mL is used.
  8. Allow the coffee to drain for an additional minute before removing the filter and serving.
