Ingredients

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 12 tablespoons cold unsalted butter

Apple Filling

  • 10 cups apples, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • cup granulated sugar
  • cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground allspice

Instructions

  1. Make the pie crust by mixing flour, sugar, and salt, then cutting in the cold butter until crumbly.
  2. Add ice water gradually until the dough forms, then wrap and chill for at least 1 hour.
  3. Prepare the crumb topping by mixing flour, oats, sugars, and cinnamon, then incorporating cold butter until crumbly.
  4. For the apple filling, combine sliced apples with lemon juice, sugar, flour, vanilla, cinnamon, and allspice.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F and roll out the chilled pie dough into a large rectangle.
  6. Transfer the dough to a jelly roll pan, trim excess, and pour the apple filling evenly over it.
  7. Sprinkle the crumb topping over the apple filling and crimp the edges of the dough.
  8. Bake for 40-45 minutes until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbling.
  9. Cool on a wire rack, then cut into pieces and serve.
