Ingredients

The potatoes

  • 2 large Russet potatoes, peeled and shredded

The cooking oil

  • 3-4 tablespoons olive oil

The seasonings

  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper

Instructions

  1. Rinse the shredded potatoes in cool water and then soak them in fresh cool water for 10 minutes.
  2. Drain the potatoes and squeeze out as much liquid as possible using a cheesecloth.
  3. Heat 3 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  4. Add the potatoes to the skillet and sprinkle with onion powder, salt, and pepper, pressing into an even layer.
  5. Cook undisturbed for 5-6 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.
  6. Cut the hash browns in half and carefully flip each half over, cooking until browned.
  7. Remove from heat, cut into four pieces, and serve.
