Chocolate Bark

Ingredients

The base

  • 3 tablespoons grapeseed oil or palm shortening
  • 6 tablespoons agave nectar or honey
  • 3 cups chocolate chips

The nuts and spices

  • 2 cups pecans
  • ½ teaspoon celtic sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Heat oil and agave in a skillet until bubbling.
  2. Add pecans and stir to coat, then mix in salt and spices.
  3. Cook for 4 minutes, then remove from heat.
  4. Spread nuts on a parchment-lined baking sheet and roast in a 400°F oven for 4 minutes, then cool completely.
  5. Melt chocolate in a separate saucepan over very low heat.
  6. Pour melted chocolate into a parchment-lined 9 x 13 inch baking dish.
  7. Break pecans into pieces and sprinkle over the chocolate.
  8. Spread the mixture evenly to a thickness of ½ inch.
  9. Allow to set at room temperature for 1-2 hours, then cut into squares and serve.
