Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or cooking oil of your choice
  • ¼ cup popcorn kernels
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare a large bowl to transfer the finished kettle corn.
  2. In a large, heavy-bottomed pot, add the oil and three popcorn kernels, then cover and heat over medium-high heat.
  3. Once all three kernels pop, add the remaining popcorn and salt, shaking the pan to coat the kernels in oil.
  4. Sprinkle the brown sugar over the popcorn and return the lid, leaving a small crack for steam to escape.
  5. Shake the pot every few seconds until the popcorn starts popping, then shake continuously.
  6. Remove the pot from heat when there are 1 to 2 seconds between pops.
  7. Transfer the popcorn to the prepared bowl, shaking the pot as you go, and pick out any unpopped or burnt kernels.
