Easy Kettle Corn

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • ¼ cup popcorn kernels
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare a large bowl to pour the popped kettle corn into.
  2. In a large heavy-bottomed pot, add oil and three popcorn kernels. Cover and heat until all three kernels pop.
  3. Add the remaining popcorn kernels and shake the pot to coat them in oil.
  4. Sprinkle sugar and salt over the popcorn, cover, and shake for 3 seconds, then rest for 3 seconds. Repeat until popping begins steadily.
  5. Once popping starts, shake the pot continuously, pausing to listen for breaks in popping. Remove from heat when there are about 2 seconds between pops.
  6. Immediately transfer the kettle corn to the bowl and allow it to cool for a couple of minutes before eating.
