Fava Bean Hummus

Ingredients

The base

  • 2 cups uncooked fava beans
  • 1 cup cooked or canned chickpeas

The flavorings

  • 1 heaped tbsp. tahini
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1 tsp. dried thyme

Garnish

  • to taste black sesame seeds
  • to taste fresh thyme

Instructions

  1. Soak the fava beans in water for 3 hours.
  2. Drain the soaked beans and cook them in boiling water for about 25 minutes.
  3. Strain and drain the cooked fava beans.
  4. In a food processor, combine all ingredients and blend until smooth, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. For extra silkiness, add 2-3 tbsp. of freezing water while blending.
