Instructions
- Whisk together the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl.
- Pour boiling water over buttermilk in a separate container and let it stand for 10 minutes.
- Add the buttermilk mixture and 4 tablespoons of melted butter to the dry ingredients, mixing until a sticky dough forms.
- Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place for 2 hours until doubled in size.
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and flour a work surface.
- Turn the dough out onto the floured surface and divide it into 12 or 24 pieces, shaping each into a ball.
- Place the dough balls into the prepared pan, spacing them evenly.
- Cover the pan and refrigerate overnight or let it rise for 25 to 35 minutes at room temperature before baking.
- Preheat the oven to 400ºF and bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Brush the rolls with the remaining melted butter and sprinkle with flaky salt before serving.
