Ingredients

Apple Base

  • 10 cups apples, cored, peeled, and sliced
  • cup coconut sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp white whole wheat flour

Crisp Topping

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup white whole wheat flour
  • cup coconut sugar
  • ½ cup finely chopped walnuts or pecans
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ cup melted butter or coconut oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and spray a 9x11 baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. Mix the thinly sliced apples with coconut sugar, cinnamon, and flour in a bowl.
  3. Pour the apple mixture into the baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine oats, flour, coconut sugar, nuts, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and melted butter, stirring until well mixed.
  5. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apple mixture.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the apples are bubbling.
  7. Let the crisp rest for 10 minutes before serving.
