Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
- Core and slice the apples into ¼-½ inch wide slices and place them in a large bowl.
- In a small bowl, combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves, then sprinkle over the apples and drizzle with vanilla extract.
- Stir the apples until evenly coated with the spice mixture.
- In a medium bowl, stir together flour, oats, brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon for the oat topping.
- Cut the butter into chunks and work it into the oat mixture until crumbly.
- Sprinkle the oat mixture over the seasoned apples in a baking dish.
- Bake for 45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown.
- Serve hot, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.
