Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a 9 x 5 loaf pan with butter and flour.
- In a small bowl, mix sugar, flour, and cinnamon for the crumb topping, then cut in the butter until crumbly.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together buttermilk, applesauce, eggs, and vanilla.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir in the melted butter until just combined, then fold in the chopped apples.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan and sprinkle the crumb topping over it.
- Bake for 50 to 55 minutes, rotating halfway through, until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 30 minutes before removing.
