Instructions
- Tenderize the flank steak and pound it to a 1-inch thickness.
- Mix kosher salt, ground pepper, garlic powder, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes in a bowl.
- Massage the spice mix into the flank steak and let it rest for 20-30 minutes.
- Prepare the pepper steak sauce by shaking soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, ginger, and cornstarch in a jar until dissolved.
- Slice the flank steak into thin strips against the grain.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium/high heat and cook the steak for 1-2 minutes on each side, leaving some pink.
- Remove the steak and sauté the red and green peppers in the same pan for 4-5 minutes.
- Add green onions to the peppers and sauté for an additional 2 minutes.
- Return the steak and add the pepper steak sauce to the pan, stirring until everything is coated and the sauce thickens.
- Serve the pepper steak over rice and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
