Small Batch Garlic + Herb Dinner Rolls

Ingredients

  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 ea egg
  • 3 tbsp butter, melted
  • 2 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp dried basil
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • as needed tbsp additional melted butter

Instructions

  1. Heat the milk to 100-110°F and combine it with yeast and honey in a mixer bowl, letting it sit until bubbly.
  2. Add the egg, melted butter, salt, and one cup of flour to the mixture, stirring on low speed until combined.
  3. Add another half cup of flour, garlic powder, and herbs, then mix on medium speed for about three minutes.
  4. Add the last half cup of flour and mix on medium for another three minutes until the dough is tacky but not sticky.
  5. Grease a bowl with olive oil, transfer the dough, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 90 minutes until doubled.
  6. Punch down the dough, divide it into eight pieces, and roll each into a ball, placing them in a greased baking dish.
  7. Cover the dish and let the rolls rise for another 90 minutes until doubled.
  8. Preheat the oven to 375°F and bake the rolls for 13-15 minutes, rotating halfway through.
  9. Brush the baked rolls with melted butter and let them cool for at least five minutes before serving.
