Classic Dinner Rolls

Instructions
- Heat the milk in a saucepan until hot but not boiling.
- Remove from heat and whisk in sugar, salt, and shortening until combined.
- Heat the water to about 100°F and mix in the yeast, letting it sit for five minutes.
- Combine the milk mixture and one cup of flour in a mixing bowl and beat for one minute.
- Add the yeast mixture and egg, mixing for another minute.
- Incorporate the remaining flour to form a sticky dough.
- Transfer the dough to a floured bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled in size, about 1 to 1.5 hours.
- Grease a baking pan and prepare a floured surface.
- Knead the dough to remove air bubbles and divide it into equal pieces.
- Shape the pieces into balls and place them in the greased pan.
- Brush the tops with melted butter and cover to let them rise again for 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool on a wire rack and serve in a napkin-lined bowl.
