miniature chocolate chips, sprinkles, or nuts (optional)

Instructions
- Melt the chocolate or candy melts in microwave-safe bowls, adding shortening if using chocolate chips.
- Microwave in 30-second increments until just melted and stir until smooth.
- Dip each strawberry in the melted chocolate, turning to coat completely.
- If using toppings, roll the wet strawberries in the toppings.
- Place the coated strawberries on a sheet of parchment or waxed paper to dry.
- For a chocolate drizzle, melt an additional ⅓ cup of chocolate and place it in a resealable bag.
- Snip the tip of the bag and drizzle the chocolate over the dried strawberries.
- Let the strawberries harden completely before serving or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 24 hours.
