Cranberry Poached Pears

Ingredients

The pears

  • 4 pieces pears

The poaching liquid

  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 4 small cinnamon sticks
  • ½ piece small lemon peel
  • 4 tablespoons fine sugar
  • 1 teabag vanilla chai tea

Instructions

  1. Rehydrate the cranberries in boiling water for 15 minutes.
  2. Peel the pears and place them in a snug saucepan.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients and the cranberries to the saucepan.
  4. Cover the pears with water and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes until the pears are tender.
  6. Remove the pears and place them in serving bowls.
  7. Reduce the poaching liquid over high heat for 5-10 minutes until thickened.
  8. Cool the sauce and pears, then serve garnished with cinnamon sticks, optionally with whipped cream or yogurt.
