Ingredients

Dough

  • cups warm water
  • ¾ tablespoon instant yeast
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons oil (canola, olive, avocado, or grapeseed)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup shredded Asiago cheese
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour

Asiago Topping

  • 4 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 6 cloves garlic (finely minced)
  • ½ cup Asiago cheese (finely grated)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, yeast, sugar, oil, salt, Asiago cheese, and 2 cups of flour in a bowl.
  2. Mix and gradually add the remaining flour until the dough is soft and smooth.
  3. Knead the dough for 2-3 minutes, then let it rise in a greased bowl until doubled in size.
  4. Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface.
  5. Prepare the Asiago topping by whisking together melted butter, olive oil, garlic, Asiago cheese, and Italian seasoning.
  6. Divide the dough into 14-20 equal pieces and shape them into balls.
  7. Roll each ball in the Asiago mixture and place in a greased baking pan.
  8. Pour the remaining topping over the dough balls and let them rise until doubled.
  9. Preheat the oven to 375°F and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
