Ingredients

The dough

  • 1 cup salted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

The mix-ins

  • 2 cups semisweet or milk chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, salt, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. Mix on low speed to combine, then increase to medium speed and mix for 4-5 minutes until light and creamy.
  4. Add the egg and mix until combined.
  5. Add the flour and chocolate chips, mixing until no dry streaks remain.
  6. Scoop the dough into rounded balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them apart.
  7. Bake for 9-11 minutes until lightly golden and set around the edges.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
