The dough

Instructions
- Beat the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until creamy.
- Add the egg and vanilla, mixing until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt, then add to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
- After chilling, let the dough sit at room temperature for 10 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Roll the dough into balls and place them on the baking sheets, spaced apart.
- Bake for 11-12 minutes until barely golden brown around the edges.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
