Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • ¾ cup unsalted butter
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 ¼ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, baking soda, cornstarch, and salt in a large bowl and whisk together.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the egg and egg yolk to the butter mixture and whisk until combined.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2-3 hours or overnight.
  8. Allow the dough to soften at room temperature for 10 minutes before baking.
  9. Preheat the oven to 325°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  10. Portion the dough into 20 balls, shaping them taller than wider.
  11. Bake for 12-13 minutes until edges are lightly browned, then cool on the sheet for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
