Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 heaping cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar.
  3. Add the egg and egg yolk to the butter mixture and whisk until well combined.
  4. Whisk in the vanilla extract.
  5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix with a spatula until mostly combined.
  6. Add the chocolate chips and mix until a soft cookie dough forms.
  7. Cover and refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes and up to 2 days.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  9. Use a cookie scoop to portion the dough onto the baking sheets, leaving space between cookies.
  10. Bake one sheet at a time for 9 to 11 minutes, until the edges are golden brown.
  11. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
