Instructions
- Toast the potato bun halves in a pan with melted butter until golden brown.
- Portion the ground beef into loosely packed 4-ounce piles and season with salt and pepper.
- Heat a cast iron skillet and add oil, then add two beef piles and smash them flat.
- Cook until the edges are brown, then flip and cook for another minute or two.
- Transfer cooked patties to a warm oven and top each with a slice of American cheese until melted.
- Assemble the burgers with mayonnaise, patties, pickles, tomatoes, and lettuce on the toasted buns.
